Kimberly Jane Lake, MSN, FNP-BC,
Medical Consultant
Kimberly Lake is an ANCC board-certified Family Nurse Practitioner with twenty years of diverse clinical experience. Throughout her career she has treated patients across the lifespan, working in nearly every major medical discipline, including neurology, neurosurgery, pediatrics, women’s health, addiction, and psychiatry. Since 2019, she has dedicated her practice exclusively to mental health, where she offers trauma-informed medication management for common mental health conditions such as anxiety, depression, and ADHD.
Kimberly's journey began at Georgetown University in 2005, where she earned a Bachelor of Science in Nursing. She then spent nine years at New York Presbyterian Hospital / Weill Cornell Medical Center, caring for patients in the areas of neurology, neurosurgery, general medicine, and psychiatry. In 2013, she completed her Master’s in Nursing from Pace University in New York City.
Kimberly then moved on to the Laboratory of the Biology of Addictive Diseases at Rockefeller University, where she recruited, screened, and followed substance-dependent patients through clinical research studies. She received advanced training to conduct comprehensive psychological evaluations on research participants. At Rockefeller, Kimberly studied the complex interplay between adverse childhood experiences, genetics, and addiction. This work resulted in several published papers examining the impact of addiction on trauma, stress, and the COVID-19 pandemic. Additionally, she served as a Clinical Instructor at Columbia University, guiding future nurse practitioners through their Research rotations.
Kimberly believes it is her responsibility to provide education and guidance that will empower patients to make their own decisions about their care. While she views medications as a valuable tool in mental health treatment, Kimberly advocates for a holistic approach to healing that incorporates therapy, movement, spirituality, nutrition, and strengthening relationships with family and community.
